It was a week of consolidation for the stock market.� After jumping 2.8% the prior week on upbeat inflation news, the S&P 500 index lost 0.6% this week.
It was also a very slow week in terms of volume and volatility.� There simply was not much news to drive the market, and many traders are on vacation.
The week started with profit-taking as the S&P lost 5 points on Monday.� From there, the market gained 1 point on Tuesday, lost 6 points on Wednesday, gained 3 points on Thursday, and�lost 1�on Friday.�
