Leading sectors included: auto manu +8.5%, IT consulting and services +2.8%, diversified commercial and prof svcs +2.1%, oil and gas exploration and produciton +1.9%, casinos and gaming +1.7%. Lagging sectors included: distillers and vintners -2.9%, health care supp -2.2%, household products -1.9%, home improvement retail -1.8%, data processing and outsourced services -1.7. Today's movement came from above average volume (NYSE 1914, vs. closing avg of 1740; Nasdaq 2579, vs. 2119), with higher advance/decline ratios (NYSE 2277/1029; Nasdaq 1826/1234, and with new highs outpacing new lows (NYSE 119/80, Nasdaq 132/58).
