4:20 pm : Like yesterday, the major averages attempted to advance. Again, though, attention was fixed on the Treasury market, and bond yields stifled the stock market's upward efforts.

Yesterday, the equity market finally responded to the upward push in bond yields. Conditions did not worsen today, nor did they really improve. Over the course of the week, the yield on the benchmark 10-year note went from 4.67% (last Friday) to 4.85%. That still leaves it at a 21-month high. The 4.9% on the�30-year, meanwhile, is a yield that that note hasn't seen in about a year. In the

12:57 pm PT Afternoon Wrap: Quiet end, large cap indices lagging : A generally quiet end to the week/month/quarter with the small- and mid-cap averages along with the Nasdaq indices drifting within relatively narrow ranges near recent highs most of the last two sessions.� The larger cap S&P 500 and Dow have pulled back further off their highs and are poised to end the week in the red.� From a longer term perspective all of the averages except the Dow have posted gains over the last four quarters (Dow�three in a row).� Recent sector leaders�applied some pressure today (Oil Service -1.9%, Steel -1.4%, Gold -1.2%, Mining -1.2%, Natural Gas -1.1%, Oil -1%) along with Semi -1% but volume has been on the light side.� Other than Airline +2.2%, gains were modest (Transports +0.45, Rail +0.3%, Broker/Dealer +0.3%).�
12:36 pm PT DUSA Pharma reports lawsuit (DUSA) 6.99 -0.07 : Co reports that a lawsuit was filed by River's Edge Pharmaceuticals, LLC on March 28, 2006, alleging, among other things, that Sirius Laboratories, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DUSA, agreed to authorize River's Edge to market a generic version of Nicomide, and that the United States patent covering Nicomide issued to Sirius in December, 2005 is invalid. The declaratory judgment suit was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, Gainesville Division. Nicomide is one of the key products DUSA acquired from Sirius Laboratories, Inc. in its recent merger, which closed on March 10, 2006.
